MICHEL CAMP FIRE

The Fire Master Control (FMC) of Ghana National Fire Service received a distress call at 0040hrs on Wednesday, 16th of January, 2019 reporting a fire outbreak at Michel Camp, Accra.  Firefighters from Gbetsile Fire Station were quickly dispatched because it was closer to the fire scene and they arrived at exactly 0043hrs.

Upon arrival and realizing the intensity of the fire, two (2) other fire tenders were called in for assistance and they arrived at the scene at exactly 0102hrs and 0107hrs respectively. Also in attendance were two (2) fire tenders from the Ghana Armed Forces.

 

 The fire had involved a Biochemical Oxygen Demand Workshop (BOD) which exploded and resulted in a fire outbreak sending flying ambers into the township.

 

The fire was brought under control at 0216hrs and was finally extinguished at exactly 0329hrs with no casualties recorded. The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
