FIRE OFFICER WINS VETERANS TABLE TENNIS TROPHY

 

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade II (ADOII) Ashitey Armah, has presented medals and a Trophy to the Ag. Chief Fire Officer Mr. Edwin Blankson at the Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service in Accra. He was accompanied by Barrister Chris King who is the President of the Veteran Table Tennis Association.

 ADOII Ashitey Armah, winner of the recent Veteran Table Tennis Competition held in Accra who is currently serving with the Weija Fire Station has been engaged in professional table tennis for over thirty-five (35) years. He represented Ghana in many international games such as the all African Tennis Championship in Nigeria as well as the Bonvita Open Championship where he won medals.

In the recent Veterans Table Tennis Ranking which took place on the 6th of March, 2018 at the Accra sports stadium, ADOII Ashitey Armah after competing fiercely with forty nine (49) other contenders came tops earning him a gold medal in the Singles Division and two gold cups for the best attacker and first position player respectively.

In an interaction with the Ag. Chief Fire Officer, Mr. King noted that there is a synergy between the cardinal points of the Ghana National Fire Service and that of the game of table tennis which puts  firemen in the best position to excel in the game. He said, the values which include dexterity, perseverance, tact, gallantry, observation, sympathy needs loyalty and discipline on the part of table tennis players to achieve excellence.

The Ag. CFO congratulated ADO Ashitey and the organizers of the tournament whiles pledging his continues support and that of government for the sport.
