The Minister for the Interior Honourable Mark Owen Woyongo charged the Ghana National Fire Service to set the pace among other security services in recruiting more sports men and women.

In a speech read on his behalf by Mrs Adlaide Annor Kumi, Chief Director at the Ministry for the Interior, at the maiden edition of the Ghana National Fire Service Sports Awards Ceremony which was organized to honour Sportsmen and Women who have excelled in their various disciplines, Honourable Woyongo recounted how the Security Services served as perfect breeding grounds for sporting skills and talents. This, he said, went a long way to feed the National teams with relevant talent as well as generate employment for many youth. These talents, according to the Minister, accounted for the excellent performances Ghana experienced in international tournaments years back.

The Honourable Minister admonished stakeholders within the Security Seervices to therefore, rise up to the occasion and iron out all the bottle necks to ensure that ,SESSA games  is revamped as it serves as grounds of recruitment for the various National teams.

He commended the awardees and urged them not to rest on their oars but work harder for the benefit of the Service and the Nation as a whole.

The Minister commended the Service for this gesture of gratitude extended to both retired and serving Sportsmen and Women of the Service. He noted that this will go a long way to encourage up and coming personnel who have interest in sports to contribute their best efforts knowing that it will be duly recognized and rewarded.
