TECHNICAL SERVICES

DIRECTORATE PURPOSE

To provide technical and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective performance of the technical services functions of the Service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides inputs for the formulation of policies.
  2. Ensures the efficient and effective management of the human, material and financial resources of the Directorate.
  3. Ensures the development, review and implementation of guidelines of the Directorate.
  4. Provides inputs for the acquisition of the type of equipment and vehicles to be used in the Service.
  5. Ensures the efficient maintenance of operational equipment and vehicles in the Service.
  6. Ensures the development of a comprehensive database on equipment and vehicles of the Service.
  7. Ensures reliable network for smooth communication in the Service.
  8. Ensures all Radio Communication Systems across the country are functioning properly.
  9. Ensures allocation of Radio call signs to Fire Stations, Appliances and Offices of the Service.
  10. Ensure drivers of all Service vehicles have up to date and the right qualification.
  11. Ensures vehicles are used in accordance with the Services’ policy.
  12. Ensures implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme and activities of the Directorate.
  13. Ensures the preparation of budget and work plan of the Directorate.
  14. Ensures the preparation of annual and other periodic reports of the Directorate.
  15. Oversees the implementation of the Performance Management System within the Directorate.
  16. Supervises and appraises immediate subordinate staff
