OPERATIONS

DIRECTORATE PURPOSE

To provide technical, operational and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective performance of the Operations functions of the Service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides inputs for the formulation of policies;
  2. Ensures the efficient and effective management of the human, material and financial resources of the Directorate;
  3. Ensures the implementation of the programmes and activities of the Directorate.
  4. Ensures the development, review and implementation of guidelines on incidence and disaster response
  5. Provide inputs for the acquisition of the type of equipment to be used in the Service
  6. Ensures the efficient functioning of operational appliances in the Service
  7. Ensures the conduct of operational investigations
  8. Ensures the development, review and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for search and rescue operations.
  9. Ensure effective communication, mobilization and control of personnel and equipment during operational emergencies
  10. Ensures the conduct of simulation exercises in collaboration with other relevant agencies.
  11. Ensures effective rescue and evacuation services to those trapped by fire or in other emergency situations
  12. Ensures the management of fires
  13. Ensures the transportation of hazardous materials.
  14. Ensures the development and maintenance of database for the Operations Directorate.
  15. Ensures the preparation of annual and other periodic reports for the Directorate.
  16. Ensures the preparation of the annual work plan and budget of the Directorate.
  17. Oversees the implementation of the performance management system within the Directorate.
  18. Supervises and appraises the performance of subordinate staff.
