WELFARE

DIRECTORATE PURPOSE

To provide technical, operational and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective performance of the welfare functions of the Service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide inputs for the formulation of policies for the Directorate.
  2. Ensures the efficient and effective management of the human, material and financial resources of the Directorate.
  3. Ensures the implementation of programmes and activities of the Directorate.
  4. Ensures the development, review and implementation of guidelines on welfare issues.
  5. Ensures spiritual upkeep of the entire Service.  
  6. Ensures initiation, organization and coordination of all religious programmes of the Service.
  7. Ensures Cadets Officers and Recruits are led to swear oaths of allegiance and secrecy.
  8. Ensures Cadets Officers and Recruits swear the oaths of allegiance and secrecy
  9. Ensures officiating at all national programmes of the Service. (is the person holding this post a priest?)
  10. Advices the Chief Fire Officer on all religious matters.
  11. Ensures Officers are inducted into office.
  12. Ensures religious harmony in the Service.
  13. Ensures personnel are counselled before pension. (is it only pension?)
  14. Ensures financial management guidance is provided for personnel.
  15. Ensures personnel are assisted in marriage and family Counseling. 
  16. Ensures personnel are assisted to build resilience against post-traumatic stress disorder and general stressors.
  17. Ensures personnel are aided to discover and develop their educational, vocational and psychological potentials.
  18. Ensures the Service band and Choir learns and plays all national anthems of Ghana, the Service anthem, including general salute and anthems of other countries if the need arises.
  19. Ensures the learning and playing of all national anthems of Ghana, the Service anthem, including general salute and anthems of other countries if the need arises
  20. Ensures the band and Choir respond to national calls and the Service.
  21. Ensures the band takes part in Independence Parades.
  22. Ensure the band provides music during the passing- out of Recruits and Cadet Officers of the Service.
  23. Ensures the band provides good music to harness Fire Prevention Programs.
  24. Ensures composition of Fire Prevention Songs to be sang by Choirs or played by the band.
  25. Ensures music is provided during the annual launch of Anti-Bush Fire Campaigns.
  26. Ensures good music is provided during end- of –year parties.
  27. Ensures the band performs during funerals of Personnel. 
  28. Ensures Bugle is provided for farewell and last post during funerals of Personnel.
  29. Ensures the band and Choir generates funds by performing during public social events if there is no official assignment.
  30. Ensures the Mess and Canteens provide sales of alcoholic/ non-alcoholic beverages and food.
  31. Ensures comfortable services are rendered at the Mess and Canteens.
  32. Ensure the Mess and Canteens are kept clean and tidy.
  33. Ensures proper records are kept at the Mess and Canteens.
  34. Ensures the management of the Mess and Canteens. 
  35. Ensures Associations provide financial support to Members in need.
  36. Ensures Associations support members during bereavement.
  37. Ensures Associations strategically invest part of its funds.
  38. Ensures financial activities of Associations are monitored periodically.
  39. Advices the Chief Fire Officer on Professional, Amateur, and Recreational Sports.
  40. Ensures constant communication with National, Regional and District Sports Authorities on sports matters.
  41. Ensures organization of Sports and Recreation in the Service.
  42. Ensures Sports men and women are adequately rewarded and motivated.
  43. Ensures purchasing of sporting equipment and logistics.
  44. Ensures constant communication with National, Regional and District Sports Associations.
  45. Ensures inputs and contributions to Security Services Sports Association (SESSA).
  46. Ensure the preparation of the annual and periodic reports for the Directorate.
  47. Ensure the preparation of the annual work plan and budget of the Directorate.
  48. Oversees the implementation of the performance management system with the Directorate.
  49. Supervises and appraises the performance of subordinate staff.
