Provides technical, operational and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective performance of the rural and bush fires functions of the Service.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures the development, review and implementation of guidelines for the management of rural and bush fires.

  • Ensures the training of Fire volunteers and other stakeholders’ fire volunteer squads.

  • Ensures the development, review and implementation of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for rural and bushfire fighting.

  • Ensures development and implementation of Safety Standards and motivation packages for fire volunteers.

  • Collaborate with the Operations Directorate in the provision of specifications for bushfire appliances, tools and equipment for firefighting
  • Ensures the registration, certification of rural, and bushfires prevention and suppression volunteers.
